Cal State Bakersfield’s Sophomore post Aly Ahmed had 4 points/9 rebounds as the Roadrunners lost a 79-75 decision to Texas-Arlington. True freshman PG Marcus Keene (San Antonio, TX/Warren) had 14 points/3 rebounds in Youngstown State’s loss to St. John’s.
Tulane’s junior post Trevante Drye (Baton Rouge, LA/Glen Oaks) had 6 points/14 rebounds for the Green Wave in their win over Alabama State. Junior G Jaleel Williams (Killeen, TX/Ellison) had 18 points/6 rebounds in San Jose State’s win. Texas Longhorns’ sophomore PG Javan Felix (New Orleans, LA/St. Augustine) had 11 points/3 rebounds/3 assists in the loss to Michigan State. Lamar Junior forward Donovan Ross (Ridgeland, MS) had 12 points/2 rebounds in their loss to Canisius. Long Island Senior G Jason Brickman had 9 points/6 assists/4 steals in their loss to Temple.
Houston nipped Rice 54-52 as Junior forward Ta’Shawn Thomas (Killeen, TX) had 16 points/10 rebounds for the Cougars in the win. Rice was led by Junior wing Seth Gearhart (Wilsonville, OR) who had 9 points/9 rebounds in the loss. Missouri Junior G Jordan Clarkson (Converse, TX/Wagner) continues to shine for the Tigers. He had 25 points/6 rebounds/8 assists as the Tigers suffered a one point loss to Illinois. Air Force Junior G Max Yon (San Antonio, TX/Reagan) had 13 points/3 rebounds/3 assists in the Falcons 80-74 loss to UC-Irvine.
San Diego State Sophomore forward Winston Sheperd (Las Vegas, NV/Findlay Prep) had 14 points/5 rebounds as they Aztecs shackled McNeese State 65-36. True freshman Cullen Neal (Albuquerque, NM/El Dorado) had a career high 24 points for the New Mexico Lobos in a big win over visiting Marquette. Neal was 6-8 from behind the arc.

Texas-San Antonio Senior G Hyjii Thomas (Houston, TX/Washington) had 8 points/6 rebounds/7 assists in their blowout loss to Georgia State. Hartford Junior forward Mark Nwakamma (leander, TX) had 15 points/7 rebounds in the Hawks win over St. Peter’s. Baylor beat Southern behind Senior post Cory Jefferson (Killeen, TX) who had 12 points/4 rebounds and Sophomore forward Rico Gathers (La Place, LA/Riverside Academy) who had 12 points/8 boards. (At left) True freshman Bryce Alford (Albuquerque, NM/La Cueva) had 10 points/3 rebounds/6 assists as the Bruins beat Weber State.
Monday, December 23rd
Loyola (IL) Sophomore guard Devon Turk (Houston, TX/Westbury Christian) had 17 points in the Ramblers win over Fordhams. The Pit at the University of New Mexico is not an easy place to play. First year D1 program Grand Canyon lost 80-68 there as Junior forward Daniel Alexander (Dripping Springs, TX) had his third straight career high game with 18 points/4 rebounds/4 assists. The Lobos also had two D1 alumni with nice games in Junior post Alex Kirk (Los Alamos, NM) who had 14 points/11 rebounds and freshman G Cullen Neal (Albuquerque, NM/El Dorado) with 18 points/2 rebounds/7 assists. Colorado State Junior forward J.J. Avila had 10 points/8 rebounds/5 assists in the Rams win over Illinois-Chicago
